How Things Work

Locking The Front Door

Once inside, turn the large round knob counter-clockwise to lock, clockwise to unlock.

To lock from outside, press the red button on the bottom of keypad.

To unlock from outside, enter your code followed by the red button.

Dishwasher

To run the dishwasher close the door, then touch "Power". Touch "Normal. Finally touch "Start". Detergent is under the sink. Also, there is an upper rack for large utensils and knives.

Fireplace

Flip the switch on the side of the wall to the right of the fireplace. Sometimes it takes a minute to start up. Turn off when leaving the house or going to bed. The blue pilot light will stay lit when the fire is off.

TV

The living room is a smart TV that offers streaming capability. Remotes are on the wooden tray on the ottoman. You can use sound bar or TV speakers for audio. Instructions for the remotes are next to the TV.

The main bedroom TV has Roku, where you can sign-in to any other streaming services you subscribe to.

BBQ

Open the propane valve before use and close it when done. Please clean grill when done. Let us know if the propane tank is empty.

Thermostat

We use a "NEST" smart thermostat. Simply turn the dial to set the temp. One tip: because heat rises, more heat at the thermostat results in a lot of heat on the top floors. Our favorite setting is 66 at night and 71 during the day. But, adjust as you'd like.

Press the front of the NEST to change settings from Heat to Cool.

Showers

In the 1st floor bathroom, pull down slightly on the ring at the bottom of the tub faucet and hold momentarily to activate the shower.

Garage Door Opener

Press the large button at the top of the wall mounted controller inside the garage. You are welcome to use the remote found inside the house. Please remember to return the remote to the house before you check out.

When leaving, you can press "ENTER" on the keypad to close the door without the remote. This is helpful if you already locked the door with the remote in the house.

Dogs

Fenced Yard

Our backyard is fenced, but please keep an eye on your pup. There's a side gate that is closed, but not locked.

Barking

The neighbors have dogs. Please try to keep barking to a minimum by bringing your dog(s) inside if the neighborhood dogs start barking.

Waste

Feel free to let your dogs relieve themselves in the backyard. We greatly appreciate if you picked up the waste at the end of your stay and put it in one of the neighborhood dog waste receptacles. There is one at the front of the house, to the left and down the hill a few steps. There are plastic bags under the sink.

Accidents

Sometimes pets have accidents. We know they can't help it. We won't charge you extra, but please let us know so that we can do a deep clean of the affected area.

Furniture

Please keep pets off the furniture as best as possible. (We know it's hard because they like to snuggle!)

Winter Tips

KEEPING THE HOUSE WARM

Because our house has four levels and heat rises, it can be tricky to keep the house just right. Our best tips:

  1. Make moderate adjustments to the thermostat. The thermostat is on the second level, in the living room. If you turn the heat up high, the upstairs bedrooms can get too hot. Our favorite setting is 66 at night and 70 during the day. But, adjust as you'd like. It's a NEST, so simply turn the dial for a higher or lower temp.
  2. Supplement heat in lower bedroom using radiant space heater. The space heater works really well, however, the combination of safety and functional features require specific instructions. SEE INSTRUCTIONS HERE.
  3. Enjoy the fireplace. The fireplace has a built-in fan that will blow heat into the living room area making it quite cozy. Turn the fireplace on or off via the wall switch to the right of the fireplace. Please turn it off when you leave or are going to bed.
  4. Extra blankets. We have extra blankets in each bedroom closet and in the ottoman by the sofa.

SNOW

There are snow shovels in the garage for your use as well as ice melt crystals to spread after you shovel. Please be careful of ice at the top of the driveway.

If you need help with snow removal, contact Evolve and we can get someone to help.
